Tom Norris founded Bio-Waves Inc. in 2006 and serves as its President and Chief Scientist. He has over 20 years of research experience in the marine and biological sciences with a focus on marine bioacoustics and conservation. Tom has served as the principle investigator (P.I.) or co-P.I. on over 15 research, monitoring and technology R&D projects, and has collaborated with others on many more.
Mr. Norris received his bachelor`s degree in Zoology from U.C. Santa Barbara in 1987 graduating with Dean’s Honors. He then attended graduate school at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, in Monterey Bay, CA, where he received a Master’s Degree in Marine Science. Mr. Norris is an active member of several professional and scientific research societies, including the Society of Marine Mammalogy and the Acoustical Society of America, where he has served on the animal bioacoustics technical committee for the last 10 years.
Tom’s personal interest include ocean activities such as surfing, body surfing and stand-up paddling. He lives in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California, not far from where he grew up in San Diego.
